The project

Growing a world of imagination at the heart of a very real land.

It all began with a bedtime story…

The Tales of Zoufftgen were born from a very simple moment: the stories I told my son before he fell asleep.

Very soon, a little character appeared in my imagination. He lived in the forests of Zoufftgen, the village I am deeply attached to. Then came the other characters, the animals, the legends, the paths, the old trees…

Without my realising it, these stories began to bring the village to life in a new way.

The first three books in the Tales of Zoufftgen collection

A collection rooted in the land

Each tale draws on places that really exist. Children can set off in search of the forester’s house, the old oak, the paths and the landscapes they meet in the stories.

Book after book, the Tales of Zoufftgen invite families to look at their surroundings with fresh eyes and to build shared memories around local heritage.

Much more than children’s books

Through her encounters with children, the project has grown quite naturally. Today it unfolds across several complementary dimensions:

  • a collection of illustrated tales;
  • storytelling readings in schools, libraries and childcare settings;
  • story objects that let children carry the stories on at home;
  • activities that invite children to explore nature and the places featured in the tales.

The aim remains the same: to pass on to the youngest the joy of stories, while reconnecting them with the land around them.

A project that keeps growing

The Tales of Zoufftgen continue to develop today.

The fourth book is currently in preparation. Other projects are also being explored, to enrich this world step by step and to let the stories reach ever more children, in a variety of forms.

Like the tales themselves, the project grows little by little, through the encounters, ideas and partnerships that take shape along the way.

A long-term vision

The Tales of Zoufftgen set out to create an imaginative heritage deeply rooted in a very real land.

Through the books, the encounters, the story objects and the project’s future developments, the goal is to help children discover, love and, in turn, pass on the landscapes, stories and memories that make their region so rich.

Because a story becomes even more precious when it lives on long after the book is closed.
